Cosmic Girls / WJSN (우주소녀)

Cosmic Girls / WJSN (우주소녀) is a South Korean girl group formed by Starship Entertainment. The group debuted on February 25 2016. The group peaked at 13 members but in 2018, the three Chinese members, Cheng Xiao (성소/程瀟), Mei Qi (미기/美岐) and Xuan Yi (선의/宣仪) were withdrawn to work on another project in China. This was not well received.

Their vocal style is somewhat more 'girly' than the others listed here but the tunes are very well delivered. As a dance troop, WJSN really excel and are considered leaders in their genre, with fabulous synchronisation and choreography involving very many position changes (God how gay do I sound?)

A number of their videos (Dream Your Dream, Secret and Save Me Save You) are linked by a complicated back-story. If you care to have your brain fried by Yo Cindy's explanation it is here YouTube.

Secret: The title song from their 2016 mini album The Secret. It is a wonderful song in many respects. It is a synth-heavy track with an eccentric melody coupled with superb vocal phrasing. (Composed by e.one & Exy): Spotify. The music video is a piece of visual art: YouTube.
This alternative video by web-channel 1theK is superb - it is simplicity itself and shows the beauty of the dance routine. This, together with the song Secret is what made me notice WJSN from the multitude of Kpop artists: YouTube.
A lovely piano cover by Yolan Nugraha: YouTube.
Save Me Save You: A track from their 2018 mini album WJ PLEASE? It is another wonderful song with a synth-heavy track and eccentric melody. (Composed by Full8loom & Exy): Spotify.
The music video is another piece of visual art. Europeans seem to be unable to see past the short skirts and appreciate what pop-video perfection this really is: YouTube.
You You You: This is just a really pretty song both in terms of its composition (Full8loom & Exy) and vocal delivery: Spotify. YouTube.
Dreams Come True: Another pretty good song (Full8loom & Exy), mainly included here for the dance video: Spotify. YouTube.
This video shows the dance sequence in full: YouTube.
I Wish: A pretty good song, included for the dance practice video which shows the dance sequence in full and how the choreography makes brilliant use of space: Spotify. YouTube.
12 O Clock: This is just a fun song comprised of multiple genres mashed into one: Spotify. YouTube.
A fun piano-cover by Snail: YouTube.
La La Love: Lead track from the 2019 album WJ STAY? I like how the position of the bass-drum beat changes through the various sections of the song: Spotify. YouTube.
Love O Clock: Another bouncy song, included on the strength of Exy's rap at 2:15. I literally hate American/R&B rap but this is delivered with great rhythm: Spotify. YouTube.
Take My Breath: Quite a pretty melody and one of the first songs I decoded in Korean. I love the chorus ending line '니가 없인 없어, 니가 없인 내가 없어': Spotify. YouTube.
Luckitty Cat: A pumping electro-pop track from the 2019 album As You Wish: Spotify. YouTube.
Cantabile: Another song with a pretty chorus that grows on you: Spotify. YouTube.
Our Garden: Absolutely lovely song written by Exy and SeolA of WJSN, co-written and arranged by Full8loom. Great work girls - for me this one stands out as the best on the album. Spotify
There's no official video for this song but this one by KEN Entertainment plugs the hole very nicely: YouTube.

More to come...
